Social Programme

NCBA provides a fun-packed social programme, taking in the main attractions of social and historical interest within the Dublin area. All outings are accompanied by an NCBA teacher. Read what our teacher Karoline says about some of the places that were visited recently:

  • The Dublin Bus Tour. The group really enjoyed it. It gave them a great view of Dublin in relation to the school and their homes. The commentator was good too, nice and slow and very helpful.
  • The Science Gallery is another big hit. There is no guide though; you just walk around yourself and ask staff for information if you want it.
  • Of the National Galleries the one of most interest to the students is the Museum of Archaeology. The others are great too of course, but this one was a huge success as students were fascinated by what they saw there in terms of Ireland’s ancient civilisation.
  • The Georgian House Museum, Number 29 on Merrion Square, is also another great spot as it introduces the students to an older time in Ireland that they usually don't know anything about.
  • Of the arts galleries, the best for the students I feel is the Hugh Lane Gallery as there is often a lot going on there. Also the staff there are very helpful and will happily chat away to the students and explain the different sculptures to them.
